On Sunday, January 19th, Teamsters Local 179 members at Waste Management overwhelmingly ratified a new three-year collective bargaining agreement.
The new agreement includes wage increases each year as well as insurance modifications that increase Waste Management's contributions to the Teamster health insurance plan. The change significantly reduces the out-of-pocket paid by members. The company's contributions increase each year of the agreement and keep the members' out of pocket lower.
The company will also contribute an additional amount each year to participate in the Teamsters Preferred Plus pension program.
"This is a great contract that benefits our members at Waste Management tremendously," said Local 179 Vice-President Chris Richter.
